I am confused at what to do. I hear such mixed evidence out there re: whether or not I should vaccinate my son. He is 11 months old and is due for his MMR next month. I do believe in vaccinations but I also read so much about a possible link between vaccinations and autism. Not to mention my nephew was fine until his one year vaccination and now is autistic. I might choose to wait until his immune system is stronger. Just wondering what I should do….

False!! there is no link between vaccinations and autism. get them, its for the best.
they dont really find autism until later anyway, so just because they found him to be after his 1 yr shots doesnt mean it was the shots.
if you watch this video you won’t be confused anymore I promise!

there is no SAFE vaccine…..don’t do it…..
I don’t believe there is any link between vaccinations and autism. If you feel like you want to wait then that is your decision…do what you feel is best for you and your child. I personally have had my son vaccinated and will do the same with my second child. It just scares me that if people stop vaccinating that some really bad diseases are going to reappear.
The latest news I read is that there is NO connection between vaccinations and autism. My kids have both been vaccinated with no problems. I ffeel it is worth protecting my kids from the effects of the diseases we vaccinate against for the miniscule risk of anything from the vaccination. It all comes down to personal choice though! I think the relationship between getting the vaccinations and being diagnosed with autism is just a coincidence. People have been vaccinated for years without such a huge incidence of autism and the vaccinations are safer now than they were “back in the day”. I think there is some other reason for the rise in autism, possibly all the preservatives we are eating!
By the way, the vaccinations play a big part in making the immune system stronger.
Good luck!
There is no link between autism and vaccines. My doctor gave me a copy of the latest study and they have found no proof of this. But if you are still apprehensive then they give an alternative vaccine that doesn’t have that particular ingredient in it.(Sorry not sure what it is.) But I have three kid and they all seem to be just fine.
Vaccinations have not been linked to autism in any studies.
The most recent research is that vaccines do NOT cause autism- but there are still webgroups, others that dispute this.
What do I think? I have a child with autism. I don’t believe it came from vaccines. 1. because he was showing signs of autism before he received his shots- he was getting what should have been his 8 week shots at 12 months of age. 2. He received all shots late.
I would get the shots. End subject. We have an 18 month old who has gotten all shots on time and we will continue to do so.
PARIS (AFP) – A new study published on Tuesday dealt a fresh blow to accusations that a triple vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) is linked to autism.

The investigation by British doctors comes nearly 10 years to the day since a paper, appearing in The Lancet, unleashed a health scare that prompted many parents to refuse the MMR jab for their children.
That paper has since been debunked by several other studies and was finally retracted by 10 of its 13 authors in 2004.
The new study is based on antibody tests on blood samples taken from 240 children aged between 10 and 12 in southern England.
It looked at 98 children with autism, and two comparison groups — 52 children with special educational needs but no autism, and 90 children who were developing normally.
All of the children had been given the MMR vaccination, but not all had been given the two scheduled doses.
The researchers looked at three paths that have been suggested as the various links between MMR vaccine and autism — evidence of persistent measles infection; an abnormal immune response; and an inflammatory bowel disorder called enterocolitis.
They found no association at all.
Other investigations into the MMR scare have similarly found no evidence to support a link.
Two of them have been large-scale population studies — one among 31,000 children in Japan, and 28,000 children in Canada — while one probe was conducted into a mercury-based chemical, thimerosal, used as a preservative in MMR vaccines but dropped in 1999.
Autism is a neuropsychiatric disorder that impairs a child’s ability to communicate and interact with others.
The disorder appears to have been rising massively in developed countries for the past two decades, but experts are divided as to why this should be so.
Some say there may be an environmental cause. Others say that cases of autism are more likely to be detected and reported because the taboo surrounding this condition is receding, and in addition, the term may be used for more minor developmental problems.
The MMR scare was overwhelmingly centered on Britain, but also affected other countries to a lesser degree.
In some parts of Britain, the proportion of children getting the vaccination slumped to 60 percent, triggering outbreaks of measles that placed infants’ lives at risk.
The original study was published in The Lancet on February 28 1998. In 2004, the British health journal distanced itself from the research and issued an apology about the scare.
The new paper appears in Archives of Disease in Childhood, published by the British Medical Association (BMA).
Good luck to you!
Vaccinate your child. Repeat studies have found NO LINK between vaccines and autism. Mercury is no longer used in vaccines. It is critical for your child’s health to get vaccines: measles, mumps and rubella are dangerous to babies and children, and are frighteningly on the rise, because people believe junk-science garbage about how vaccines are harmful.
Your sons immune system is his best defense against illnesses – just build him up with a good diet! Why do you think so many children suffer from asthma, skin problems and ear infections..among other things? My 19 month old has had no vaccinations and was breastfed for 13 months. He is very strong, healthy and happy. Vaccinations are a big money making scam.
If the MMR shot is what’s causing autism in children then it wouldn’t have just popped up now. Children have been getting these vaccines long before your child was born and it’s only recently that there seems to be a “autism epidemic” (even though I haven’t noticed one). It’s more likely that something else is the cause. Keep your child safe from PROVEN fatal disease and get him vaccinated. The MMR shot helps him stay healthy and not contract Measles, Mumps and Rubella. All of which are potentially deadly.
Research has not found a link between autism and the MMR vaccination. There were a couple of studies that got a lot of press for drawing those conclusions, but
those studies had serious flaws (e.g., not enough subjects, no controls, bias with regards to which subjects were selected). There are plenty of much better designed research that have looked into this question, and those studies have not found any link between autism and the MMR vaccine.
People who insist on believing that vaccinations cause autism have a poor understanding of science.
If you are concerned, get the shots split up. He will go for mumps one time, measles another, and rubella the third time. The research that theorizes the MMR shot may trigger autistic symptoms is based around the fact that these three diseases would never naturally occur together. Another thing you can do to put your mind at ease is to make sure the shots are all thimerisol (sp?) free. All the shots are supposed to be, but old lots are still very much in circulation, so it pays to check. Do your research and follow your heart, as his mom you know best. But I think he will be just fine with the shots. Good Luck!
Do not worry Autism is something your born and if your get has Autism be proud because Autism is a gift I have Asperger’s (a type of Autism) and I’m glad that I have it watch my video about it it will help you understand
You fears are well founded-Vaccines cause Autism. Your nepwhew was not an isolated incident. A new diagnosis occurs every 10 minutes in vaccinated individuals.
Tens of thousands of mothers and fathers are not wrong! Hundreds of doctors and scientists are not wrong. There are other causes but you are asking about Vaccines.
Autism is at least as serious as the diseases the vaccines may or may not protect kids against.
There is substansial evidence at least some of the childhood vaccines do not work.
Check out the first link listed below. There are links there that will take you to a safer vaccine schedule. Read the “before you leave page” at Generation Rescue and you will know exactly how I felt and still feel about traditional medicines failure to protect our children. Please go to the sites and do your homework. If you do you will shortly know more about vaccines than your doctor does. What you do with this info is up to you.
Incidentally, Hundreds for sure, likely thousands of doctors don’t vaccinate THIER children the way they reccomend you do yours. In one physicians poll about half of the doctors that work with infectious diseases don’t even vaccinate themselves against them because they fear the vaccines.
I have a simple task that may help you decide.
Do a little research. Find out how many kids are hospitalisd and die or are serously damaged by the disease your child is to be vaccinated for(in the USA, THIS IS NOT AFRICA!) Then compare that to the rate children are developing developmental disorders and to the rate of other vaccine injuries. For instance-Centers for Disease control says there were 64 cases of measels in the entire United States in 2005. Most were adults. Some WERE vaccinated. Only two adults were hospitalized, no children. All recovered. That means that NOBODY DIED from measeles in the entire United States! That in turn means that the vaccine damaged and killed more kids than the measles. Why the hell would you take that chance. What you must understand is that vaccines have almost a religous following-reason is thrown out the window. The plain simple truth is vaccines are not what people think they are and are not safe.
People just want to believe their kids are safe if they vaccinate them. The truth is otherwise. The flu shot is the most worthless, most dangerous of them all. This year it’s only about 60% effective and this is a good year.-opps I mean 40% ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) — The flu season is getting worse, and U.S. health officials say it’s partly because the flu vaccine doesn’t protect against most of the spreading flu bugs.
The flu shot is a good match for only about 40 percent of this year’s flu viruses, officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday.
