The boy is 6 and is autistic, does not speak and still wears diapers. His brother is 10 and has no problems, and the parents asked me how much I want to be paid for five hours of watching them, when there is the possibility the kids will be asleep most of the time…and I have no idea what is proper to charge. They are actually 40 minutes away from me, and are going to pay my travel costs, so what should I charge in addition? Any ideas?

a good amount. thts a handful
11 dollars an hour sounds good
That’s a hard one…. It’s been awhile since i babysitted and at the point I was getting paid about 7 bucks in hr…. I would say 9… but i don’t know what the going rate is these days.
Depends on the severity of his autism. If he’s just nonverbal and in diapers, less than if he’s the violent type (to many autistic children, any change like a new babysitter will freak them out). I’d ask them the severity of his autism, but probably would say traveling costs plus an extra $40-45 would work.
Most babysitters charge by the hour, not the severity of a child condition. In my experience people charge 10-11 dph.
In the 10-11 an hour range and make sure you know exactly what to expect from him, the level of his autism and whether or not he is given to violence and how to handle it; six years old and in diapers means he is pretty severe.
$800 for 2 boys.
