How much a behavior assistant makes?

It really depends on where you live, but yes, you will definitely make more than $14/hr! I know a BCABA that makes $40 an hour. I don’t know if this is typical, tho. I also know a person that has her Master’s in ABA (but not board certified yet) that makes $80k. I also know a BCBA that is making more at a job she just started working only 15 hrs/week than she did working full time at a previous job where she made about $60k thanks to her certification.

This is definitely something that I think you should look into. I am currently completing the coursework to become a BCABA (hopefully taking the exam in Nov). I would recommend doing your coursework at Florida Institute of Technology (www.fit.edu). They have a GREAT and affordable program (about $800 for each BCABA course-a lot of programs that I’ve found have been $800/credit hr and each class is 3 credits!). An added bonus for doing your coursework thru FIT is that the person that develops the courses (Jose Martinez-Diaz) serves on the BACB board:*)

You probably know that there are (generally, but differs by school) 3 courses to be taken for the BCABA exam and an additional 2 courses to be taken for the BCBA exam.

This is getting pretty long, but there just one more thing I have to say. I would suggest getting your masters in ABA if that is something you are debating. There is a school called Sages College on the BACB website that offers a masters degree and only takes about a year and a half. I really wish I would have gone that route! The program is online.
